The Youthbridge Initiative is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that seeks to inspire and support young leaders in the pursuit of achieving reconciliation among people in conflict. The primary goal of the project is to empower youth to take personal action and responsibility for building peace in their communities. The basis of the Initiative's approach to peace-building includes the teaching of conflict management skills, the perpetuation of community dialogue and the fostering of cross-cultural relationships in an open, neutral environment.

With the Summer Community Exchange program, Youthbridge maintained continuity and also introduced a new aspect of community dialogue by extending participation to neighboring communities in Serbia and Bosnia. In those ten days, Vukovar youth were given the rare opportunity to interact and cooperate with their peers from neighboring regions, quickly realizing that they are not alone in their struggle against inter-ethnic intolerance.
